QA1 shocks - what settings do you run?

I have the QA1 coil overs with 450lb springs and shocks F/R. Right now I have them set on 5 out of 13. Might be a tad soft, still sorting this out but seems to bottom out quick up front. Hotchkis 2407C leafs (1.5") out back, Helwig bars F/R.

What settings do you run on the street?

I know that 350lb springs are recommended for SBC, 550 for BBC. Some on here recommended 450's. I have aluminum heads/radiator/headers so my 450lb springs may have been a poor choice but hey, springs are cheap. I may go to a 350lb spring if it's not working for me on the street.

Hotchkis rear leafs are, as I've been able to read, rated at around 175 lbs/inch.

I'm not scraping anything... yet. It's low... like driving a Vette. I think it's hitting the bump stops, need more miles to tell for sure.

23" to the fender lip low? 450 lb springs up front should be fine.

I think as far as shock tune goes, your just going to have to spend some time behind the wheel.

Your not going to get a Cadillac feel out of a 1st Gen leaf spring car.

I'll measure tonight. I certainly didn't expect it to give me a cush ride, purpose built toy for sure and I love it. Just want to make sure I get it right and don't destroy the QA1's in the process.

Love your 69! Did you roll your fenders? Wheel/tire specs?

Thanks. Yeah, lips rolled and then stretched the old school way.........with a baseball bat, LOL. Not recommended for a street car that you want to keep in pristine condition.

Those are Z06 wheels so back spacing was achieved with the help of hubcentric spacers but basically 5 1/2" back space work well for max tire width front and back.

Front are 17x9.5 with 275/40's and rears are 18x10.5 with 315/30's.

I have the normal 17x9.5 with 5.5 BS on back... 275/40's. 17x8 with 4.5 BS up front... if I remember correctly... 245/45's.

I really don't want to try and roll them, first off I'd lose the chrome trim..which really wouldn't hurt my feelings but you know what will happen to the paint, probably split it on the lip then it's all down hill from there.

I dont blame you. You have a real nice street roller and the stance looks fine. I wouldn't change a thing.

Spend some time behind the wheel and play around with the shock adjustments till you feel your as good as it gets.

Where is your coilover shock in its travel at ride height? It should be roughly centered. 60/40 is often recommended for street applications. It sounds like you may be bottoming out your shock.
