blasting & prime for future resto
I am about finished tearing down my project truck inorder to get it blasted then epoxy primed so it can be stored for several years down the road. The truck is all bare metal so blasting should be easy. I would like some pointers on what steps to take to insure the metal will be good later when finances allow for full resto. The last thing I want is to take the time and think I'm doing right but only to find out after years of the headache of storing, my project is now crap.
The guy who is helping me has done several cars and he typically uses soda then washes it off with water. Then he uses sugar sand for harder to clean area. Would you guys just get a quality epoxy and apply over bare metal(no etching)? There is alot of skim coating and 2K primer going to be applied when the time comes. Is there anything wrong with me roughing up the area then apply filler over the epoxy even though it has sat there for several years? I appologize this is so long winded. Thanks
