Crap, door issues

Hi, got my doors and a few other parts blasted... everything came out fine except I found some rot in my doors.... form the reading I have done tonight.. the aftermarket doors are pretty bad fitment wise.. But I couldn't find any patch panels that I could buy either...

Curiois if anyone has an opinions on what to do with these ... the rot seems to all be on the door frame... a few spots on the skin...

if you have the ability to fix these doors you have the ability to fit new repo doors. I would do whatever is cheaper. maybe find a set of used doors

I wouldn't use those doors...i agree even bad repop doors with a little work are probably cheaper then fixing those...plus it looks like they were chopped up for a set of speakers

yes the speaker holes are gross but that is a simple fix...

Been there...went with the AMD door shells. They were really quite good but like all aftermarket metal it will take a little finesse to finish. Besides you have more rust that media blast cannot get to unless you remove the door skin altogether. I found that in the bottom corners where there was no evidence of rust yet the door skin was very thin as rust was soon to show itself. The last thing you want is rust bubbles showing up in five years in your expensive paint job. In other words my doors were not showing the rot yours are but it is what you cannot see that will bite you later. Do it right and have a peace of mind later. The labor involved in fitting aftermarket doors will be far less as well.

X2, I would not try to fix those doors.

Perfect opportunity for some AMD doors. As long as the doors aren't super out of whack (from what I hear AMD is pretty good), any minor gap issues can easily be fixed with some 1/8" welding rod welded to the edges. That's easy work... fixing that inner structure is not, then at best it'll still be a patchwork of bare metal that will become problematic again. The AMD doors will be coated inside and out, and won't be an issue ever.

I found great AMD prices and service with Ralph at ZBR but may not be competitive unless he can drop ship.
