What type of blasting media do they use? That effects the price greatly.

dont let them do the flat panels...roof top, door sides, quarters, hood, deck lid. Only around the edges. It will cause warping on the flat parts. strip or sand it off by hand or machine. Usually is cost about 80 to 100 per hr. To do the whole car underside, inside, and around the out side panels... about 6.5 to 8 hrs.

I had my whole car blasted with Garnett media and it did not warp.

Yes although it does cost more to have it media blasted then doing it yourself, if the shop has a good reputation then you would have no problem getting it done. I have had lots of cars media blast and only once did they mess up a panel, but they made it right. If they blaster know what they are doing it is the best and fastest way to strip the car. Oh and I've seen plenty of guys warp panels with a DA sander because they used to corse of a grit sandpaper and put to much heat into the panel. So be careful when using the DA sander and keep moving it around so you do not create to much heat in any one place. Happy sanding

Media blast was the only way for me. Follow this link. It shows the car through all it's stages. I had mine blasted and put in epoxy primer. I could pick it up whenever I had time and didn't have to worry about rust. I got all this done for under $1600.00. The key was, make it so all the blaster has to do is walk up to the car and start blasting. Remember, you are paying him buy the hour. Do you want to pay him for 4 hours to clean the window sealer out of the windows, or can you do it at no charge?

His trick to keep from warping was one key procedure. One layer of paint at a time. My car had seven layers of paint. One layer at a time is the key. Hope this helps.
