Default Carpet help/opinions

I'm wanting to purchase carpet by the yard and would like to know a good vendor to go through.
I've filled all the voids/uneven surfaces on my floorboard and am ready to purchase carpet by the yard/sew it to fit and install but not sure of what type of carpet to go with. I'm not wanting to take any short cuts on quality so money is not a concern but I am going to drive the car so need it to wear well but also want a good look. I've checked into mercedes and wool carpets but am not very knowlegeable when it comes to the pro's and con's. I saw Jay was using a daytona weave and was happy but I've never seen this style in person. So, what's a quality carpet to go w/and why and who can I purchase it through? Thanks ahead of time.

Daytona carpet is the same look that is in a 55 Chevy and vettes of the 50's. Nice looking carpet. There is also German square weave that has a nice look, A lot of street rods go with that. Go to your local interior shop and see if they have any charts that you can look at.

Thanks Tracy, which would you personally put in a 68 Firebird?

I'm building a '68 Camaro and have put some thought into this myself. Are you running a rear seat? If so the mini tub and 4 link are non issues. Simply cut out any issue areas which would never be seen.

The subframe connectors are slightly different. I built my own sfc's and they intrude into the passenger footwells about 1.75". Many people don't worry about it and throw preformed carpet in. I'm planning on cutting out the areas for the sfc's and finishing the edge, leaving a hole in the carpet. The SFC's will poke through this hole and covered by formed matching carpet laid down prior to the main carpet.

Ultimately it should be much simpler than starting from scratch and fit well.

Lenie I would cut and sew Square weave if theres a color that works for you. The pre fit carpet kits wont fit they way you will want it to look.

Thanks Tracy, I'll find a place to order it and that's the direction I'll go.
