Default Australian V8 Supercars @ Circuit of the Americas (COTA) in Austin, TX

Wow, what a facility and event. A small group of us headed to Austin to check the inaugural event out and I'd say we were impressed.

We wanted to share our photos and videos from the event. Weld had his big daddy camera and took hundreds of great photos. There was a killer 23 story observation tower too. The big man Rodger of Ironworks would not join us up there.

We met up with several Lateral-G members who were local and also traveling to see the event. Nice meeting up with the likes of Bryan (Carbuff), Eric (?), Steve (gerno) and his dad, SW (needs no introduction), and Roger (68LS1) all the way from down under. Aussie Aussie Aussie.

I'll start with a few pics Greg sent me.

First 2 from the observation tower.

The short time a Ford was in the lead. Holden dominated the weekend.

The GT/GTS races were killer as well.

A Pirella GT3 Cup driver was dehydrated and they asked me to fill in, but I did not have my equipment with me so had to pass unfortunately.

I'm on the plane home as I write this --- The connection speed at the hotel in Bimbo (or wherever we were) was too slow to upload to Photobucket... and of course the plane connection is 802.11 A (for antique!)... so will get them up when I get home.

Those pixs from the tower are not out of focus --- that IS how hazy it was! The weekend set record heat for the area.... and you could cut the air Friday and Saturday with a dull knife.

Needless to say -- we had a good time!

Thanks Greg. What a beautiful looking facility and track. Must have been a hell of a time.

Thanks for sharing! Very cool you got to sit in the cup car. I'd do anything to drive a full sequential box.

Just think, you are gonna have more hp and less weight than the super cars...all you gotta do is run their spring and shock package, throw on some slicks, and you are gonna hang right there with 'em!

Ha. I wish buddy. These cars up close make all of our cars look like such POS's.

Yeah I don't think so pal. Check out the side view with your limbs hanging out all over the place and knees up over the steering wheel.
