Default 1959 Apache 4x4

looking for some input
My latest project is a 1959 Apache 4x4 that sits on a 1979 c-10 frame
It currently sits to high, but I plan on maintaining a good 4x4 stance (no lower rider).
I plan on using the truck a s a driver. I would also like it to be able to handle a bed camper, and pull a wake/surf boat. If the wife is going to tag along, I need it to ride smoothly and be comfortable.

so I'm thinking:
modern interior
air ride suspension

what's the smoothest? 4 link?

my question is really about engine and transmission.
I'm thinking big block fuel injected. Maybe a 502.
perhaps a tremec automatic and a more modern transfer case.

anyone have any thoughts or engine recommendations? It needs to have hauling power, but somewhat good on fuel.
I plan on lots of in town driving, so I am steering clear of diesel

thanks

For all of your suspension needs I'd be calling these folks, they know these trucks and how to get them riding right.

That would require stretching the front end....

I was thinking Duramax. I'm not sure what that would take.
can I use the same frame?
What frame would work with the '59 body?

I've searched for a complete turn keyset up, with no luck
