Default Al Unser Jr and Robby Unser to Run Goodguys AutoCross

This weekend marks the first of many races this year that Al Unser Jr and Robby Unser will drive in the PRO Autocross.

Goodguys AutoCross just got a lot tougher! Speedway Motors, the official Speed Shop of Goodguys has named two-time Indy 500 winner Al Unser Jr as team driver for the upcoming 2015 season. His complete appearance schedule is still shaking out but he will compete at next weekend’s season-opening Spring Nationals at Westworld of Scottsdale as well as Goodguys 33rd All American Get-Together March 28 & 29 at the Pleasanton Fairgrounds to start off the year.

Unser Jr will share the seat of Speedway’s G-Comp 1965 Nova with his cousin Robby Unser, himself an eight time Pikes Peak hill climb winner and Formula D drifter. The nimble Nova is outfitted with Speedway’s new G-Comp Front Suspension Kit and a full complement of AFCO coil-over shocks. The Nova is powered by a BluePrint 454ci Pro Series small-block engine backed by a Tremec 5-Speed transmission, and features a host of aftermarket performance parts from Billet Specialties, Dynatech, MSD, ProCar and Weld Racing.

Retired from an Indy car career that spanned over 3 decades, Unser still competes at a variety of motorsport events. In 2013, he partnered with his son Al Unser III to dominate a 25-hour endurance race at Thunderhill Park. He is also a regular at the Long Beach Grand Prix Pro/Celebrity race.

Come out and see the Unser's this weekend and see if your time is faster!!

Watching those guys was really fun. They rotate a car like it's a tank in wet grass. Incredible.

Got the winners, nothing below that yet. You have to scroll down a little for the autocross.

Big congrats to Sean Johnson outa Chico in the street machine class. He beat some real good drivers in some real good cars. Leaf's, good suspenders, good brakes (no gazillion dollar parts, just stuff that works good).
All of his stuff is basic off the shelf stuff at Customworks parts, plus LS power which never hurts. Sean is relatively new at this, and he is just smooth and good. Couldn't have happened to a nicer guy!!! (Jody, hes the one i introduced you and Charlie too while we were talkin to you over at that red camaro thingy)

I saw Johnny Unser at the airport this evening... and he said he'd been texting with Robby and Al jr... thought they came in 4th and 5th....

You'd have to understand the size of the airport to get how people would see each other.... LOL
