Default how does the knob come off the rod????

I am interested in changing my factory knobs on my El Camino to the Ridetech billet, i know the wiper will come off as i see a set screw, but its the headlight that is confusing. i know how to remove the knob with the rod but how do i remove the knob from the rod?

I almost believe they were injected when they were made....pull the rod and cut off the knob ?
( god that sounds so wrong).

Feel around the top go your light switch and you'll find a pin thats spring loaded. pull out the light switch knob until it stops, then push down on the spring loaded pin and finish pulling the knob out. But, remember, when you pull the knob out, your lights will be turned on.
