Default The Hook up...

I guess my Bro and Dad got tired of listening to me talk about one day getting a hot rod to use as my daily so...they hooked me up.
Talked me into taking the plunge and buying a beat up 70 Nova that I had never seen and they said they'd do the work to get it running. Nothing special but nice enough to cruise they said, and as nervous as I was, I went ahead and rolled the dice. To top it off, they live in a condo with no garage so all the work was done in the parking lot...shame they didn't take pics along the way.

Anyways, I just got back from picking it up and driving it ~1K miles from El Paso, TX to Vandenberg AFB, CA. I kept the rpms ~2.5 and it drove smooth all the way except for developing an exhaust leak around the last 5hrs of the drive.

Lots of Love to my big Bro and Dad

Thanks Guys.

I am very happy with the car and it's a perfect fit for my daily use. I put new gaskets in last night at both the header and collector ends to address the leak and man what pain that inside bolt is...my back is killing me and I didn't even do the work. Lol and I'll have to do it again cuz I do want to change headers...I think these sit too low.

I'll certainly improve some areas but for the most part I plan on just fixing as I go. That said, let me know if you have some prts laying around your garage that I can put to use.

I still haven't given up on my dream 71 Firebird but at least the itch isn't as strong now.

Thanks Vince,

I don't really have a plan with it so...but you know that if I decide to get crazy with it, I'll hit you up.
At the moment I'm just stoked to hear it rumble.

I took it to a local car gathering today and all the old guys gathered around, started tinkering and telling me what I need to do/change with it. Apparently this is the car everyone had, raced, sold, and regrets selling. Lol They gave me all kinds of cool stuff too...I got a Nova repair manual, 14inch Air Filter, Fender protector, two Nova model cars and a bunch of other little bits. Really cool and exciting!

I did like all the advice though. Guess I didn't need all the hoses from the valve cover/breathers to the carb.
