Default found some Recaros

So I found some vintage Recaro LS/LX seats from a Mk 2 Jetta. They appear to be in very good condition given their age though I haven't looked at them yet in person. With that one guy who did the rebuilds now out of business, where are people going for parts or repair pieces should they be needed? The asking price is $500 for these locally. I figure at a minimum, they will need to be recovered eventually. How does that price sound if they are as described compared to going new? Just looking for some feedback to keep me grounded since I'm pretty stocked about finding the exact seats I'm wanting. Don't want to make a hasty decision. Thanks!

Thats the route i went. Just make sure you look over them very carefully, i didn't and ended up with two different seats. My upholsterer ended up doing a fairly decent job of making them match, and covered them, about 500 iirc, same price i paid for the seats. With Wedge brackets, i was into the pair for about 1400, so not a great deal, but for Recaro's, great price. Remember that these seats are WAY better internally than most of the comparable seats out there. Theres a reason they start out at 800 a seat...my 2 cents....

I have been looking for a used pair for almost a year, mainly the LS models, similar to what you describe. They are scarce here in So Cal for the price you describe. I have got estimates for $500-700 to recover so it seams in line with what others have said. All said and done, you would basically be getting recaro seats for half price. I would do it if the foam and pan are in good shape.

I appreciate the feed back guys. I'll be going to look at them on Wednesday evening I believe. We'll see how they look then.

Wow. Guess I made a good decision keeping the Recaros from my MK2 Jett all those years back. Had no idea they were worth so much now.

Would love to see your finished seats when done!
