Default Koni Classics - Initial settings?

Well I finally have all of the parts to start on the suspension for my 69 Camaro. I plan on doing it in stages to prevent burn-out, plus I can't decide on wheels so the ATS spindles and C5 brakes will have to wait.

I'm gonna tackle the DSE front and rear springs with the Koni classics this week. Where should I set the adjustment on the Konis? I read a post from Chicane67 on PT.com about running them full soft but I want to make sure before I start. The car is a small block with aluminum heads (LT1), with DSE 2" drop coils (550 lb?) up front and 3" drop leafs (175 lb) out back.

I know it's easy to pull them and re-adjust, but it's hotter than hell this summer and work has been just as hellish. I don't have the time or energy to fine-tune right now, so I am looking for a good starting point. Anyone have any experience with this setup that can share?

Thanks to all who can help. -eric

I ran the Koni's on my car a while back, if I remember correctly they adjust by rotating the shaft in relation to the body. You really gotta spend the time to tune it to your cars specs, start full soft, expect to spend at least two hours taking the suspension apart to get to the shocks, expect to to this at least 3-5 times to properly tune them...

*edit* I was thinking springs here, durrr.

or...

You can do what i did, losen the nut that holes the top of the shock shaft in place, use an allen key/socket to rotate the shaft and change the setting, the J bolts holding the body of the shock to the LCA will hold it in place. Start softest, move up from there until you reach what you want/need

apologies if I'm way off its been a while since I ditched the Koni's classics for Koni SP8 coil overs

I have Koni classics in the rear. I played around with them last year. I ended up staying with the factory (softest) setting. I found my car hooks up better with the softest setting.

When I used them on a different car, the settings were always 1 setting harder in the front then the back. 2 front, 1 in the back. The cars I had them on back in the day was a little lighter so you may need to go up on both, but try that first.
