Default fuel pump controller

a few weeks ago we were talking about having problems with the areomotive fuel pumps heating up the fuel to much, and a few of you bought the pump controller to kick down the voltage, well i also bought one and have been thru 2 msd 6AL boxes now and was wondering if any one else has had any of these problems or does msd not make a good box anymore ??? i would not think the wire you run from the tack out could cause this problem but not sure. The first box lasted 10 plus years ,and the second lasted one short drive to the gas station

I believe MSD moved their box production down to Mexico several years back...

Where are you mounting your MSD box?

Biggest killers of them are heat (keep them away from direct heat sources and place them in cooling airflow if possible), vibration (use the isolator mounts), and also a poor ground and/or improper coil can kill them.

Shoddy build and/or component quality will lead to a premature death too but that's out of your hands.

thanks for the help The whole story is i have had the first box for about 10 yrs with no problems mounted under the dash (not much air flow) on a 95 degree day i was on the highway and i hear the fuel pump start making noises then the car die's like its out of fuel so i got 2 gallons of fuel to make it to the nearest gas station filled the tank which was half empty then the gas started pouring out the filler almost as fast as it went in i turned the pump on a minute that helped but i went to pull away and the car die's again now it has no spark i shut the battery off and waited a while then turned the battery back on and the car starts but had the fuel problem 2 more times on the way home this was the time a few people here were having the same problems and they said they ordered the areomotive fuel pump controller so i bought one after the install the msd quiet working so i sent it in for repair and got it back i drove the car to gas station and back home (less then 5 miles) it ran great now this weekend i go to use the car as it was warming up it just quit running i check for spark there is none so i was thinking is it the controller doing this or is the msd box not fixed right ? so i called msd today and they said to send it in. now do i send it in for another 70 dollars to get fixed or should i buy a differnt system? i will add a fan to the next unit i get because it was pretty hot the first time it went out. and is anybody else having this issue with there controllers ? thanks again for the help and sorry for the long story.
