Gotta try them on......different brands have different internal shapes. They all have adjustable Velcro foam pads.
Go to a motorsport retail outlet and find one that fits firm around your cheekbones without spikes in pressure.

Bell Helmets have entry level models and wide variety of shapes.

There are differences in the eye port height for sedan/sportscar versus open wheel formula type car......cos the upright/lay down driving position of course.

Don't use a motorcycle helmet.....different design for different use.

Try some on, if you can. I'd also suggest getting a Snell 2020. Even though you will likely never need the protection that a helmet offers in an autocross situation, just remember that not all helmets that meet Snell requirements are created equal, and spending a little more on safety is never a bad thing!

You mean from a mental standpoint? No, I skipped being middle aged and went straight to old person. I now believe that safety comes first, everything costs too much, and today's music sucks.

One of my favorite quotes from a wall of helmets on display at a bike shop many years ago "We have helmet's priced from $15 to $350, if you have a $15 head buy a $15 helmet...."

Definitely need to try them on to get something that fits right, there are different shapes of heads. When I used to race motorcycles, Arai helmets were comfortable and fit me great, and Shoei did not at all, nor did Bell.

I wouldn't buy a helmet that wasn't Snell approved then and I wouldn't now either.

Due to the lack of local availability, I ended up ordering a G-FORCE Racing with the Snell SA2020 from Summit Racing. It's worked for me for the one autocross event I attended. Made 8 runs and so far so good
