Default Anyone rebuild a steering column?

I'm so frustrated with this damn column i want to throw it out the damn window.

The springs that hold the shift level plate in have gone all haywire and wont line up so i can install a new wiring harness.

Does anyone know of a place that rebuilds them or can i get new one for cheap?

There are shops in most towns that specialize in columns. Reason? Because perps steal, and try to steal cars all the time leaving the columns busted. The insurance companies feed these shops that do the work mobile and quick, much cheaper than the dealer can even consider.

So, you can call your auto insurance company and see if they have a list of such shops in your area, and or call you local dealer and other shops to ask.

The one we have local is called BLC Automotive.

Now, I have had some experience in the column, but not with a column shift. Is this a column shift issue?

Also, unless you are going for the bone stock look, I have learned from experience that as long as you have a welder, grinder, and a saw you can make other style columns bolt right in there. I put a 1981 Vette titl/tele in my Camaro with minimal mods to make it bolt right in. The junk yard is full of GM tilt columns from all kinds of models. I can also tell you how to make the column mounted wiper switch control your wiper. I think an S10 column would be a good choice to work with.

These are the guys who were recommended to me by Ricks First Gen and they did an absolutely spectacular job on my column. I had them completely rebuild it and even fix a couple different things. It literally looks like a brand new column. I highly recommend them.

Hope it helps.
