Default Opinion - Wheels

I've decided to put Air Ride on my '89 Mustang. I'd also like to change the wheels in the not so distant future. I'll probably go with a replica Ford wheel, because they are a pretty good bang for your buck and I know they'll clear my Cobra brakes and fit correctly. I'd like to run 18X9's in the rear and 17X8's in the front. Here a couple of photochops of my car to make it look like it's aired down and also with different wheels.

Let me know your thoughts and/or offer other suggestions on wheels (nothing too crazy on price!)

#1 - Current (hand me down) wheels and aired down

#2 - Black Bullitts

#3 - Chrome Bullits

Sorry, the first one looks best, Check with Wheel Replica or any Ford Magazines.

Another source is www.mrt-direct.com (Mustang only source)

Ask for Dan, he is a hugh fox body fan. He can set you up.

That may be due to my PhotoShop skills J/K

The first picture is of the current wheels, just lowered. All 4 current wheels are 17X8. I really don't mind them, I was just looking to go with something different, bigger/wider in the rear. I got the wheels that are on it from my sister's '98 GT when she put Saleens on it. They look pretty good for hand-me-downs.

Personally I think the black centerred FR500 style wheels would look great on your car. I couldn't find a pic of the black ones that would let you see them well when I shrunk them down to fit the car, so I used the chrome ones, but you get the gist . Just a thought. Otherwise I would go with the black Bullitts.

Default Random Thoughts, by me!

I really like the style of the FR500 too, but a 9" wide wheel on the front of a Fox body is almost too much. I know people do it all the time, but on an '89 it will limit my turning radius. Earlier Foxes had a jacking pad on the lower control arm. I'm liking the colored centered wheels too. The car has the center of the hood painted black as well as all of the moldings and trim around the windows. I'm starting to lean toward Black Bullitts in 18X9 and 17X8 (I like a little stagger front to rear)

I'll have to look into the FR500's some more though. Man at this rate, I'll never make up my mind.

Thanks for the input!

Also, I've kept the rear axle width stock fox length. The wheels I have on it now are better suited for SN95 width (.75" longer axles on each side). When you look from the rear of the car it really exaggerates the rear track being narrower than the front track, not a desireable look in my mind, but some people don't even notice. I did this so I could run a 9" wide wheel with some lip on the outside instead of having to run a wheel with an extreme offset.

Ok, now that I've given everyone more than you ever cared to know about my thoughts..................

Later,

Brandon
