Default Acquireing a project car

Hey, I'm new here and I would love to get started on a project car. I am still in college but was still wondering where are some good places to look for acquiring a good project car in decent condition for cheap.....something along the lines of a camaro or hemi charger or challenger....

What kind of budget do you have and where are you from?

I bought my car on-line, sight unseen, from a guy in Cincinnati using autotrader.com (I think). I talked with the guy and reviewed pictures of the car, then took a leap of faith and bought it. The first time I saw it was when it rolled off the trailer at my house (FedEx has a GREAT affiliate company for this service, very pleased)

So you should ask yourself if you are willing to have a car shipped (up to $900?). If so, you can use on-line searches for listings, but be careful and thorough.

Also, what kind of project are you looking for? A basket case? In my case, I was looking for a car with the sheet metal work already done, because I can't do it myself. Your situation may be different.

Are you looking for a first or second gen Camaro?

Unfortunately, the only "cheap" hemi car (or any collectible MOPAR) you will find is in the toy aisle at Wal-Mart. While I do LOVE Mopar's, I wasn't going to drop $20K for a project car and then spend $2k for an ash tray (sarcasm) as part of the restoration.

Good luck!

John

I'm not worried about the motor itself, I'd really just be looking for a body/chassis, I know of a guy that builds hemi's with the super charger/blower set up so I'm sure he can find me a hemi and hook me up with the right stuff. I have never really dont the sheet metal work before either so having one done already would be nice but it wouldn't be so bad to learn how to do it also...
