Help Deciding on a Fuel Injection System

Since cars are never “done”, the next step in the evolution is to lose the carb and go fuel injection. That is my dilemma at this point. Here is a link to the car and engine configuration.

I was originally thinking of going with the Inglese 8-stack setup with a custom sheet metal manifold from Wilson. However, I’ve finally decided to go with a Precision Metalcraft manifold similar to this.

I’ve done some reading on FAST EZ-EFI, their XFI, Accel, and others and I am at a total loss as to which direction to go. Several of you have had multiple experiences with EFI, so I’d like to get your thoughts and input as to which system I should use.

I had that Precision manifold on my last car, loved it. Who will be doing the tuning? How many extra things do you want the EFI to run (nitrous, trans controller, etc.)?

As Jody mentioned, that manifold looks great and works very well.

I also echo what Jody as far as the question about who is doing the tuning as that can and will play a large part in things.

Besides the questions of what all else do you want it to run (nitrous, forced induction, etc.) you must also figure if you are using a drive by cable or drive by wire TB setup. There are only a couple systems I use that run drive by wire TB's.

For the SB2?

Electromotive Tec 3R If it were me everything in one box ignition and all.

BS3 is another good one PRO EFI is a great choice as well.

Good questions. As far as who will be doing the tuning, I don't know as I hadn't thought of that yet. Another reason for posting here. I'm not aware of anyone in the Boise, Idaho area that specializes in tuning injection. That will be part of today's agenda. As far as what else it will run, I don't plan on adding nitrous, or boost and I"m sticking with the T-56, so no auto. I plan to run the throttle by cable.

If you're going to drive it then the Accel, it has the most extensive maps that relate to good drivability. If you want extensive datalogging etc. I'd do the BS3.
The FAST EZ stuff has it's applications as well but don't underestimate being able to control spark, especially where you live. More spark when it's cold will allow it to drive much better. Also the ability for individual cylinder trim, and you don't necessarily need a dyno to utilize that feature.

The EZ systems don't have spark control and run a bit richer to try to deliver comparable drivability vs a sequential system like the Accel or XFI with full tunability. But imo the EZ stuff is no match for a well tuned sequential system on an IR type intake.
