Default Body work newb

What are the correct steps for blocking a car?(sand paper grit, fillers, etc)I have a 70 nova that had 1/4's hung, and most of the exterior metal work done, now needs to be gapped and blocked for primer. I have very little body experience, but can't afford to have anyone do it. I have a set of dura blocks, Any tips, suggestions, advice will be greatly appreciated.
