http://www.news-journalonline.com/Ne...rane022409.htm

DAYTONA BEACH — Crane Cams, a 56-year-old auto parts manufacturer, closed its doors this week and laid off its employees, a worker said today.

Sorry to hear that......I remember using one of their cams back in the early eighties. It was called the Crane "Fireball" cam and it worked pretty well too.

From industry insiders, Crane's parent company (Mikronite) is in the process of being bought out by some Middle Eastern investors... however a snag has appeared in the bank paperwork which means that operations have ceased as the status of the company ownership is in limbo. Until that clears Crane is effectively closed, and even if/when the buyout does go through for Mikronite, Crane's future is still somewhat unclear.

There are also a lot of rumors floating around that Autotronic Controls (parent of MSD) isn't doing so hot either.

I would bet the owner took his money and ran for a beach in Hawaaii or somewhere he can look at ladies in bikinis all day.

Default Still alive!

Just talked to some folks today.....Crane is coming back into the picture, for now, warehousers like Jegs & Summit still have some of their products, and Crane is looking to be back in the picture in the near to immediate future.

Meanwhile, upgraded to Isky Red Zone lifters inour (2) dragsters, they have better oiling characteristics at full RPM and will have a longer "# of runs life" than did the previous Crane mechanical roller lifters- but PLEASE come back soon, years of product & service are appreciated.

Despite the doom & gloom, muscle cars, racing, & performance will continue to thrive in the short to long run. We ALL have a special place for our cars & their needs!!
