Default LS Throttle Body Question

For all you guys that have done LS swaps, what have most of y'all went with as far as throttle body's...DBW or cable driven? Any benefits to one over the other? Right now, my motor is still in the crate. I have a cable driven throttle I'm planning on going installing, but I'm curious about the DBW.

Hey Marcus - I'm only in process so I have no real world observation yet, buuuut...

cable = rounting and potential repair if it breaks
DBW = slight delay so I've heard

Also, I believe you'll need a Nick Williams if you decide to go 102 with your FAST intake. I'm going DBW...

I've read quite a bit good about DBW. I like the idea of the DBW as I was able to smooth my firewall and delete the cable. I'll be using the Nick Williams 102mm DBW one. They look sweet.

I've heard of DBW delays too and there's a company that makes a chip that goes in-between the pedal and the weather pack that connects to it but I've also heard the delay is far less of a problem with GM LS TBs. I don't have a ton of experience with all the other DBWs but I can't sense anything in my GM unit.

Having said all that, I like mine.

TBW is the only way to go. Those chips to enhance throttle response are only a bandaid and a competent tuner will make it feel just like cable operated, only better.

I have a 24 tooth DBW computer and harness from speartech With cruise control. My tuner is Ed at Virginia speed and he cleaned up the lazy throttle problem that you have heard about. The cruise control works great and last but not least it cleans up the look of the engine.

I will never go back to cable, but once again, without a good tuner you could possibly suffer a disconnected feeling as far a throttle response depending on your engine setup.

Oh yeah, I understand it is more difficult to set up cruise control with the 58 tooth computers if your curious.

Hope this helps...
