Default T-56 Mag.

I called American Powertrain they are sending me a quote for the kit. I am not sure what to do here. I looked for the items needed for the complete installation in Summit. Summit does not show the components needed, crossmember, drive shaft yolk, etc. I called Summit they are not at all schooled up on the T56 or the components. They said they only have the T56 for new cars not my 69 Camaro. I said there are only two, one is close ratio and one is a wide ratio. He said I was wrong. Not sure if I want to buy from them. It maybe more of a pain to save the 10%( I have the 10% off coupon from a car show) than what the customer service they do not have at Summit is worth, which is very poor.

Has anyone bought the T-56 trans and found all the items needed for a complete install?

Hurst Drivelines was very good to deal with and it's their primary business unlike Summit. I bought the T56 Mag close ratio with the conversion kit for auto to manual. Had a couple issues but they were handled in a very professional and prompt manner.

McLeod adjustable throwout bearing
Hurst Blackjack shifter if not running in the forward (stock console position)

There are other T56 companies I engaged in transactions with.........save your time, energy, and money and deal with Hurst Drivelines.

I recently bought my magnum and few other parts through American and was very pleased. I've also used Hurst drivelines in the past with good luck. I'd go through one of them and you'll be covered.

We just got a complete kit from American Powertrain. No issues other than they use a Wilwood clutch master and I used a DSE bracket which uses a GM master, no biggie.

You are correct, there are only 2 trannys, the late models use a Magnum XL which is different. You will not find tranny pricing to vary more than a couple bucks no matter where you buy it, and I have priced kits from 4-6 suppliers and complete kits all have run within $200 or less difference. Get a complete kit and take any guesswork out of ordering the wrong part.

Learned a lot folks...appreciate much....need a little clarification....number one...will this transmisson fit without having to massage my tunnel....if so, will the shifter fit into stock 4 spped location...will this unit bolt up to my std. clutch and bellhousing setup that came with the four speed...

A lot of that depends on what car you have. Bellhousing is different for sure.
