Default 1969 Camaro Black plates... Need some advice

Hey everyone,

I've been trying to get these black plates register to my 69 Camaro but have no luck (California). The plates are not registered to any vehicle, they are not restored and they have "69" stamped on them.

DMV just sent me back response letter stating: "There is no sticker or tab on the plate and the base year of the plate does not match the model year (Year of Manufacture) of your vehicle"

The person also hand written notes: "1963 base w/1969 sticker required"

Do you guys have any suggestions on what I should do next to maybe get this pushed through? Or am I **** out of luck?

Love to hear some ideas folks..

Thanks!

John

try another dmv or go to AAA. Depends on the clerk to push it.

Accelerating is optional...........stopping is mandatory. Your car WILL stop one way or another.

Funny thing is that I actually applied for one yesterday for another car. It wont be passed anytime soon so I thought I register then restore these...

Where did you get those plates? You will never be able to register that plate..... It is a 69 stamp and not a 63. Not to mention the 69 stamp is in the wrong font and font size. YOM ONLY allows the 63 stamped plates. Sorry to break the bad news to you.

1963-1969 plates have a 63 stamped on them NOT a 69. Here is a closeup of an original plate showing the 63 stamp. http://www.popularmechanics.com/cars...cars-2#slide-2
