First off, as many of you are aware...it's freaking COLD just about everywhere right now, damn cold. This was taken on my commute to work yesterday morning.
It's a bit better today, may get up to 25 degrees then a bit colder again the next few days.
Here's my problem. I've got a transport truck showing up sometime later this week to pick up the Corvette to take it to Scottsdale, and I'm just not quite sure how I am going to get the car from inside our shop to the truck.
Typically I'd have the rig just back up to our shop back door and load it right there, here's the view out our back door right now.
The truck would have to back down a slight hill to the garage door apron, then hope to get going back forward again and turn around to leave the lot once the car is loaded. I've had drivers refuse to back up to the door if there is even a hint of slickness to the gravel lot under that snow.
If this particular driver refuses...my next option is to get a roll back in there to load the car on, then get the rollback to meet the truck somewhere else to do the swap. Pretty much EVERY road around here is a disaster right now.
This car is
perfect in every way, I don't even want to take the chance of the front air dam dragging the ground putting it on a rollback much less letting a tow truck driver hook a chain to it. My tow truck guy said he'd just have me drive the car up onto the rollback and stay in the car holding the brake until we got up the street to meet the truck. All not very desirable options in my book.
I had my plow guy make an attempt at plowing the back lot this morning in the hopes that today's sunshine would melt a bit of the last layer down to the gravel, but I don't think that is gonna work too well either. Thankfully we didn't get ice under that layer of snow so if it melts at least some it should help. Hopefully the transport driver is adventurous and capable (preferably about half loaded would be a plus) and willing to work with me. I talked with the owner of the company yesterday trying to nail down when the driver will be here, apparently I'm not the only car he's contracted to haul to Scottsdale later this week with these types of issues...
Anyway, first world problems I guess...
