I had a 1970 chevelle in high school that I took to with me to college. After college it was hit and run and I didnt have full coverage. It made me sick to look at my poor car with hude dent in it. I didnt have the money at the time to fix it so I sold it. I recently found a roached out 1970 chevelle for cheap and have decided to do a build.
The plan is LS1 with a T56 trans for the power. Hellwig boxed frame, tubular a-arms up front with coil over shocks all corners. 2013 camaro IRS rear end grafted into the 1970 frame. I want to go with an updated interior complete with center console. I want to shave the side marker lights and drip rail and smooth the fire wall. I also want to flush mount the windshield and rear window. I am still undecided on wheels and not positive on the color yet.
sending it out to the media blasters to really see what sheet metal i am going to have to replace. Initial loor around roof is going to need to be replaced as someone put a sun roof in it at one point. It was a vinyl top car originaly and rusted pretty bad. one quater panel for sure need to be replaced but not sure on the passenger side. It apears that it is still the orriginal blue paint that it rolled off the dealership with, but we will see.
Toreback,
Welcome to the site, and welcome a new member of the Chevelle club. There are only a few of us, but we make up a good team.
As others have said, you have your work cut out. It can be done though. Sounds like you have a plan and are ready to go.
