Default Driving Instruction in the Houston area

This may be a long shot, but I figured I would ask anyway. Are there any Houston area members here that have had any driving instruction at MSR? Now that I have completely updated my GTO, I need to learn how to drive it again. The last thing I want to do is go out and wrinkle sheet metal, or break my new toy.

Thoughts on MSR, or do any of you have a better suggestion on where to go.

NO I'm not doing it on the street...

I know several that have driven at MSR, some have been instructed, some have been instructors. MSR is a great track and nice facility, however just a little far from town for me.

When I was doing track days regularly I did Texas World Speedway. Loved it and learned a lot in the process about car control. You cant go wrong with track days and seat time for learning to drive the car.

Check and see what groups are running out there (Driver's Edge, Porsche Club of America, etc) and see when they have an opening. I know a group I'm part of has track days every now and then so I can send you a PM if I hear about one coming up.

I am kind of in between both MSR, and TWS. At this point it would come down to cost. I have tried to call MSR 3 times to talk to someone, without success. I could not find a phone number for TWS.

Have you looked at Driver's Edge? They have track sessions coming up in April and June.

I'd like to sign up for the June session if my schedule allows.

Shoot me an email, [email protected] . I think my buddy Ryan Pramik just shot your car for some photos if its the same one in your Avatar, beautiful car by the way from what I've seen.

Have you done track days in the past? In my experience, it's best to get some seat time on a skid pad, local autocross, private day etc that way you aren't judging yourself against "So and so did xxxx".

HPDE's are great, but if you just redid your car, and want to learn to drive it, you'll be learning about driving, and also probably some things that may need to be sorted on the car, while an autocross or something similar will at least offer some shakedown before the huge time investment of an HPDE etc.
