Default Crate engine. Am i missing anything?

Hi All, First off let me say I am not a motor guy what so ever. I am thinking about buying a crate ls3 motor from speedway (they are running a rebate of $500) . I would need to buy all the accessories (alternator, ps pump, ect) and then a custom wiring harness from speartech or psi. Would there be anything else needed that I am missing? Does speartech or psi include the computer for the ls3? I am trying to figure out a close total for the main parts of the motor before buying. I am thinking about running a t56 magnum but might just use a tr6060 for the trans. Still debating. Thanks for the help.

Josh

The GM wiring harness comes with a DBW pedal and for the price, it's tough to beat.

I wasn't aware you were able to use the factory wiring harness. Isn't there a bunch of extra wires and sensors? I really haven't done much research on the wiring side yet. Thanks

tr6060 your gonna have to do some work to get rid of the stupid rubber driveshaft bushing. your going to need manifolds, accessories, and possibly an oil pan.

Shop around to make sure you are getting a good deal. Best price I have seen is at Jegs with free delivery.

I've bought 3 from Jegs. Also use the GMPP Controllers.

Agree with others take your time and shop around. Opinions are like as_holes everyone has one, but you will soon get enough advice to form your own opinion based on what everyone says. You can't go past the Magnum gearbox for engine swaps. You are far better to leave the TR6060 for OEM usage. The magnum is ultra tough and sweet shifting (in a variety of avail ratio's)

Gandrud Chevrolet in Green Bay, WI is where I got mine from. They are one of the largest Chevrolet Performance dealers around.

I tried to have a budget and when I got going on it, the price doubled. The motor was $7500 and with all of the extras...bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, master, slave, hoses, mounts, controller, harness, oil pan, headers, etc.etc.etc...it all adds up. If you have access to a excel, I can send you a copy of my spreadsheet I used. Granted...I added vintage air to mine, but all of the other stuff really adds up. Some things I tried to do on the cheap and I got burned.
