Default Mast Motorsports

wondering if anyone has experience with mast motorsports? thinking about the 600 road and track engine for my pro touring build of '72 firebird. will have chassisworks subframe and rear. would like a competent road course and xcross car a few times a year but mostly street car.

i like higher rpm engine than low end torque. this engine is supposed to go to 7000 rpm.

really wondering about the expense vs a gm crate motor.

thanks

Not so much with their engines, but I do run their electronics, and I will say that their customer service is top shelf.
As far as their engines/components go, they are constantly at the top of the charts in speed and/or power records.
I actually spoke with Damon today concerning a remote tune.

Thanks Dad!!

My Chevelle is old school... It has a belt driven power steering pump.
They're 17's, but I keep em clean!

I'm not sure on the cost differences, but Ron Sutton's got some pretty impressive engine packages and you can trust his expertise and the people he works with.

I've never worked with Mast, but I heard two stories on this forum. One guy had a problem and it seemed like they did a good job taking care of him. Another guy, not so much. The difference, it seemed to me was that guy #1 had a shop and some presence on the forum, guy #2 was just a regular joe, didn't get as much attention to his problem.

But like I said, I haven't worked with them and anecdotal stories from the internet are not worth much. Ron works hard to be available for you but he has distractions too.

I'd also take a look at Don Hardy Race Engines. Don, Jr is an exceptional guy. His work is known as several people on this forum has bought his engines. Even the Roadster Shop has used his engines in their Craftsman C10 build. I bought an LS3 from him that's sitting in my garage for my C10 and believe this or not, he personally delivered it to Dallas for me, as he was on his way here to handle some business matters. I've also bought several engine items for my LS7 from him. He's just an all around good guy.

All of the above options are great choices! Mast Motorsports has a great reputation and shops like Detroit Speed use them regularly, not just on customer builds but also their test cars which have been dominating the scene.
