Default SN65 on E-Bay....

We were giving consideration to listing the car with Barrett Jackson in Jan, and that may still happen, but in the meantime we thought E-Bay would be an interesting experiment.

So far the bids are over 85K and we still have 2 1/2 days left to go. We have recieved 36 bids from 13 different people with 120 watching from the sidelines.

Hopefully those 120 are waiting till the final hour to place their bid. That being the case, 7 to 8PM centeral time should be pretty interesting. :-)

Wish us luck.

PS: Kona had a total of 17 bids from 13 different people. The auction ended a day early when someone hit the "Buy It Now" button for 150K.

The Kona buy it now was done by a scam bidder, it did not sell and bogus second chance offers were sent out by the scammers.

Good luck with the auction, it is a great car!

Hi Jim,

You are kidding, right??? Why would someone do such a thing??? What is possible advantage??? All I see is possible downsides to the whole scheme.

We set the reserve at the lowest point we would sell the SN65. That point is 50K under the actual build price. If it gets up to that point, great. If not, it won't sell. If it sells for just over the reserve, the new owner will have cut an excellent deal. If it sells for 50K over, we will be thrilled. If it sells for more than that, we will throw one hell of a party and invite everyone in the known universe. :-)

Just to be clear it was not the seller who had anything to do with the bidders hitting the buy it now. I guess it just one of the scammers way of screwing someone over. It must have been frustrating to the Kona seller since I believe it happened twice to him on the bogus bidders hitting the buy it now.

I got some of the bogus second chance offers and I can not see how anyone could fall for it.

I'm not a big fan of Barrett Jackson. It takes at least two buyers, not one in order for the bidding to escalate. The tv programming only shows you the win-win vehicles that sold for high dollars.

I would bet you money there are hundreds of owners that lose their ass. Of which some even repurchase their own cars back. Very risky proposition!

I hate to equate the thousands of hours put into that car versus what it might sell for. The hourly rate is going to be minimal.
