Have you priced Lincoln/Miller? I'm guessing $800 more than the Hobart. 
Definitely go pedal, tig torch buttons are way too far rearward to keep accurate arc gap especially for entry level folks.

 The Hobart I posted is at the top end of my budget as it is. If you have a suggestion in that price range I'm all ears. I just want to be able to weld thicker steel than what I'm now capable of and at least get started welding steel with TIG.
