Default i sectioned my rear bumper today

i mounted the bumper on the car then went one inch past the mounting bolts on the right then chopped the bumper end off.i then sat it flush to the side of the car and marked how much should be trimmed so it wouldnt stick out as much.after i trimmed a small piece off the piece i cut out i held it upand it looks 100 times better.i then repeated for the other side.now i need to bring the main straight portion of the bumber about 1 inch in toward the back of car.any tips or tricks for me.im thinking of welding a bracket to back of bumper and then welding 2 nuts on bumber back to recieve the bolts thrue the trunk.does this sound rite?any helpful tips from anyone would be greatly welcomed
thanks.im going down and taking pictures tonight then ill update
