The build originally started out as a mild "cool" camaro... but once DC stepped in and made a donation... then came out with a SICK promotion campain... I opened my wallet and drained it to make it a bad ass build.
Quite frankly... i am running out of money. I have to pay my guys at the shop to work on it.. because when they are on my car.. they aren't making money from the shop... and three guys full time gets expensive.. even when im getting a SMOKING deal. lol.
The subframe is just too far over budget.
Don't get me wrong... an email with the whole promotion campaign was sent to try and get the baddest of the bad subframe.... but no reply. lol.
Can't win them all..... It will give me something to upgrade to in the future.
You know what sux is when its all done Im sure you'll get a offer, lol

A properly prepped stock subframe can and will perform with the best of aftermarket subframes out there. Its all bench racing anyway, because it all depends on the driver in the end. With my modified stock subframe by guldstrand I've had no issues hanging with evos, 997s, m3s, m5s, and even vipers at track days. I've even had SRT vipers give me point bys. That was with manual slow ratio steering as well. I recently installed quickratio which should help a ton.

A lot of the aftermarket parts that we are so lucky to have are beautiful, but highly uneccessary and 'bling' more than anything else. Weight savings is about the only thing an aftermarket sub can offer you, and easier wider front tires, but with steering stops, I should be able to run a 275. I don't want to talk trash on all the great aftermarket companies providing all these great products for our cars, but what worked well for the trans am sunoco cars works well today.

The One Lap camaro runs a stock subframe and so have a couple of Stielow's builds.

In the end, the only thing that makes your car perform well isn't the parts, its you, and seat time at the track. Lots of people on these forums seem to not realize that nor care....

your snowball would end if you got your ass to a track and realized a guy with a 100whp miata is lapping you time and time again regardless of how much money you sink into your car.

Driver experience and seat time are the cheapest and fastest part you can add to your car.

I'm not going to get into a pissing match over a subframe. I wasn't intending to slam his project whatsoever. Of course it doesn't need a new subframe, it just seemed like everything else was top shelf so I had to ask. Geez...

Thanks for the complimets guys....

Im really not to worried about the subframe. It would be one of those "bells and whistle" pieces. It was more about the ride height. I wanted to make sure i could get the stance i wanted with out rubbing issues. Luckily with the fender line flared out a bit... i have full turning radius without any issues.

There is a good deal of aftermarket on the car... but for the most part... its all custom. There wasn't much thought about weight saving... but the car wasn't meant to be built for track purposes. Actually... with the extra metal work.. there is probably 75lbs more weight to the stock body. I can't wait to put it on the track... but more for fun rather than "best lap time".

This car was built to be a highway killer....
