Default New Project! A couple questions...

Just agreed to buy a 68 Firebird and hope to pick it up Wednesday. Can't wait to get started! Maybe, just maybe, it'll even be driveable before winter.

My main question is regarding insurance. Since it will be stored in my garage, is it covered by homeowners, or should I insure it though my auto insurance?

Last question is about towing. Any recommendations for Metro Detroit (from Warren to Canton)? I got a quote for $45 hookup + $3.50 / mile. Not too bad.

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

1) Yes, it's covered by homeowners insurance. But it never hurts to have auto insurance also. A big NO to regular auto insurance. It's too expensive. Plus, if anything happens to it they'll give you blue book value. Classic car insurance can be insured to the value of what you estimate its worth as long as you don't give an outrageous amount.
2) As far as towing, ask around and see if anyone you know has AAA. Then it can be towed for free up to 100 miles. Then, I think it's like $1.10/additional mile.

Congratulations.

Home owners will not cover the car. It will be hard to get much coverage in project form, but if you add it to your regular insurance you will some coverage anyway. i just would not mention the retoration process. Then once done buy a proper classic car policy.
