Default Wayne due subframe- engine perches unequal! HELP?

Having problems setting the motor in - its bottoming out on the motor mounts before it will go low enough to line up the bolt holes. I noticed the perches are not the same length- one is 8" to center, the other 9". Is this a screwup or what? Seems like there is not enough room between the perches for the motor to fit. Should I cut the tube off & re-weld it at 8" to match the other side? Any input is appreciated. Here's some pics.

it probably has that offset for steering shaft clearance......... Can you get a pic of the interference? Sounds like you have the wrong mounts. Is the width of the mount correct for the pads on the frame? What engine are you trying to install?

ok, just noticed on the other board that this is an LS swap. That changes things. If it's the metal bent over portion of the mount that's hitting the frame I had the same issue on my 64 Chevelle. You can either swap the mounts/adapters from side to side, which makes the mount upside down and works fine, or you have to trim the bent metal piece to clear.

Not sure if this makes sense, but if the perches were a bit farther apart (more space between the 2) the motor could sit down further into the motor mounts. I can get the bolt thru one side or the other, but not both at the same time. Here are some pics of the mounts. I have to use the furthest back position or the pan hits the cross member. Could these be turned upside down? I was planning to put the AC compressor in the stock bracket, but the engine plates would not fit, the bracket was in the way. Anyway, thats another issue. I ordered the motor mounts based on the space between the ears. These are the short/wide mounts. The tall/narrow would not fit over the perches. What other mounts would work, if these do not? Thanks so much for your time/help.

looks like you have them upside down now, at least compared to the ATS mount plates I used. Swapping from side to side may make a tiny change in engine height, but I don't know if it will change the distance between mounting holes. I'd give it a shot though, not too hard to try.

Swapping sides would put that bent over metal piece of the mount on the bottom. Seems like they would be in the way.. If you click on the pic of the mounts, look at the bottom, just below the welds. That is were the tube on the engine perch is sitting when dropping the motor in. It wedges right up against the welds, not allowing the motor to drop down any further. Hope I'm making sense. I may flip sides just to see if it would work.
