Default automatic with overdrive

can anyone recommend an automatic transmission with overdrive for my very stock 327 '67 Camaro. The powerglide just doesn't do much for fuel economy for my daily driver. I don't want to cut the tunnel.
At best, It will be bumped up to a 350 horse. Currently it's an embarrassing 210 HP (I say that with pride). It's a column shift....

thanks

A decent rebuilt 700r4 with a hydraulic lockup valve in the valvebody, .500 boost valve, corvette servo, and "beast" Sun shell. will be the best bang for your buck. It will handle more than the hp you plan to pull out of your car. Plus, just add the tv cable bracket, shorter driveline, and a crossmember.

If you dont want to go through that much a 200r4 is the same length as a th350 and you can get a factory driveline, and crossmember for the th350 and it will work for the th350.

Personally, i love the 700r4 first gear, and the overdrive is awesome.
This is in my honest opinion, 700r4 all the way or t56.

I got a response from GearStar about the 2004r about the same time that you posted.
I like the idea of the 700r4, but in 18 months, this car will be a teen's car (provided she maintains her GPA), so the milder gearing with the 200 will be a plus. Thanks for the response.
Any good places to find a used one?

Well around here i just source them from a couple of junkyards and a metal scrapyard that takes cars, the scrapyard gives them below core prices. and the junkyards wont unless they are returns for being bad. otherwise id find yourself a decent honest transrebuilder they should be able to source one.
if you go with a 700, stay with a older pre 89 unit so you can use the hydralic lockup valve.
