Something that has always baffled me, car design and what goes to production.
I know they use focus groups and designs go through a million revisions. They absolutely never look like the concept.

I honestly think the new Corvette is the Aztek of sports cars. Giant oversized wheel openings, sharp angular lines everywhere with no flow, a design that was 10 years old the day it came out. Incredible engineering and tech, but nothing that reflects the beauty and history of the original...and there are sooo many talented designers at GM, a true shame.

I agree completely. Top 5 ugliest cars made today...catastrophically bad.

I think the Corvette is a decent looking car.... it just doesn't look like a Corvette anymore

I saw a bright red one leaving my neighborhood the other day, I noticed he had put bright yellow badges on the front fender very similar to the prancing pony....maybe he meant it as a joke!?!

The ones I've seen that have all the black plastic painted body color are a step in the right direction...maybe on the next update they can soften the lines a little and get back to the shapes we recognize. The latest Camaro design is the best it's looked in 20 years.

I don’t love the look of the C8 but it’s something I could live with to get that level of performance.

Back when I was an engineer it was a never ending struggle to get the industrial designers to work with us to get the look they wanted in a design that met performance, cost, and manufacturability goals. I’m sure it was no different with the Aztec and C8.

Here's an article about the lead designer and at the end the story about the Aztek design.

The C8 hasn't grown on me like many other modern vehicles. I trailed one today and all I could think was, that's one ugly rear end on that sob. I'm sure they are a ball to drive though. For looks, my lowered C5Z does it for me. It's a blast to drive too.
