Default My 68 1st Gen Project

I have been lurking around for some time, mainly learning about the pro-touring thing as much as possible and trying to decide to go retro or PT with my new project.

Well After seeing some sweet inspiration on this site I think a lil PT design may be in the works for my camaro.

This is project I picked up around May of 07, from a local couple. They had this 68 and a 69 convert. We went to check them both out and the vert. had already been promised, which I think the buyer got at a steal becasue the seller told me he wanted the same price for both cars and I got the coupe for 6k. Although the vert. was a major basket case.

The 68 fired right up and hit a nice lick, not bad for a car that had been sitting since 1986. The owner said he took it off the road in 86 with plans to make it a drag car and had the engine and drive train rebuilt during that time. He reckoned less than 20hours on the engine when he last tooled on it.

The body was not to bad imo, the pans were gone, needed new quarters, hood, and fenders could use some attention. We aired up the tires checked everything out and waited for my buddys rollback while I gave him the check.

1 hour later no rollback yet, friend got lost somehow, and we are only 7 miles from my house!

So WTF! It runs it has brakes, the lights all work,... I am just country enuff to drive if home, who needs floorpans!

Anyways here are some shots of her as she sat when I got her home. Since then I have repaired the floor pans, trans tunnel, and the driverside outer wheel well, and quarter panel.
