2005 Gto LS2 help

I am going to go look at a 2005 GTO that was hit hard in the front. It has a LS2 and a 6 speed with only 2000 miles on it. The guy wants about 7000 for it. His description explained that from the doors back the car is great. If the motor is good would it be a good deal to take it and the tranny out and sell the shell. How much do you think i could get for just the shell? How much is the motor and tranny worth if operational?
