Default Setting up a gas tank for efi

Has anybody set up an older gas tank for efi? What I would like my end result to be would be using my stock gas tank (65 mustang btw) to be baffled and sumped. What I cant think of in my head is how the OE's baffle their tanks for an intank efi pump. I know I've read articles on people swapping in 5.0's with the efi, running an external pump w/o modifying the gas tank and being fine, but I want to cut corners (ovbiously since im here!) so I dont want to have to worry about my fuel pump becoming unsubmerged and burning up. Also, what kind of fuel pump can I run submerged, and how does the wiring work with that? (Gas and electricity seem a scary combo to me) Any info on this would be great, thanks guys!
