Default Dropped Alternator damage?

I accidentally dropped an alternator onto the concrete. Fall was probably 3 feet. The housing looks fine. Does anyone know if these are fairly durable or is it highly probable that some of the electronics got damaged?Point is that it is a pain to install...low position..and thus would rather replace or test before putting back in rather than put it in and have to take out again. I have a 1000 mile road trip and dont' want to chance it. Thanks in advance.
