Making them out of particle board or wood is common, and so is fiberboard. Metal generally rattles. Panels can screw into place, wedge or use velcro, or we often use really strong small quarter size or smaller magnets to hold panels together- (special magnets).

Keep things light, without sacrificing durability. I will try to have some photos posted.
