Looks like I get to start one. Wow, it has been a little since I have drawn a car. I realized this when trying to do these. I actually started with the Pinto, but in the middle I got struck with the Vega, then I figured out how to finish the Pinto. So now I have two. I'll try to keep this short.
first, the Sure Win Vega. This one started out with an older Vega with the thinner bumers. A friend of mine was telling me how the "thing" to do in the day was to put a split bumper on a Vega to make it look like a 70 Camaro (he did it to his). I thought, why not carry that theme further. Along with the split bumper, I added a 2" extension to the nose to complete the look. Out back, I used 70 Camaro tail lights along with a modified to fit rear bumper. I put some oval exhaust sticking out the back and set the car on a set of 01 Corvette wheels. I added the popular single stripe down the middle in flat metallic gray circled by a thin purple pinstripe over a nice bright yellow paint. Put a new Corvette motor in it and it will be sure to stand out.
The lil' horse would be the emblem that I combined the bucking Pinto and the Running Mustang together, just playing around.
Wild Horses- I have been wanting to update a Pinto for some time now. It starts with early 70's Pinto, again with the thin bumpers, while due to the modifications, a later model may also work. The first idea I had was putting Mustang GT 500 tail lights on it for a different look. I then went ahead and added the center rectangular exhaust from th same car. While I personally like the older pintos with the thinner bumpers, I replaced the stock rear bumper with a modified 65 Mustang piece so it wraps upward on the sides. A wing is added, but is attached where the bolts come through the rear window for the hatch. To make the front as exciting as the rear, I decided to add a modified 65 Mustang front fiberglass racing bumper. I added a tube grill and some driving lights to be a little reminiscent of the famous Eleanor. If this was mine, I would be happy with the old FE 5.0, but since it is a concept, you can go crazy with the number of later model engines available. To show of it's Mustang roots, I painted it with the infamous colors the race car was dressed in (blue with white stripes). After I drew a small scoop remenisant of the original mustang, I notice how the newer Tacomas have a really nice similar looking scoop that the opening actually goes down into the hood a little. I used some big AC Cobra style wheels to get even more of a street race car feel to it.
Hope you like it. I also hope for a good turn out this month. It looks like there was some intrest when this one was announced.
