Question about building custom console out of metal

I'm planning on starting my console soon. I debating on whether to build it out of metal or mdf. Either way, when I'm done it I will probably wrap it in leather. How hard is it to wrap a metal one in leather. I know with mdf, it could just be stapled or glued. How would I wrap a metal one though? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also, any thoughts on metal vs mdf would be great also. Thanks in advance.
