I agree it is a stupid rule and the lead has no power effect in a 4 stroke. But what it comes down to is they were in violation of the rule and should suffer the same penalty as others have in the past. Making midyear rule changes is b/s, especially when it will have a drastic effect on the championship.
And the "so they can run pump" fuel is so completely asinine I'm shocked anyone ever brings it up. NOBODY runs pump fuel. I raced MX and some SX for many many years and even amateurs run "race gas". Not always for power, but because it's consistant, and in some types of fuel much easier to tune. You couldn't pay me to run 91 octane pump gas in my race bike, screw that.
