What ended up being 22 hours of labor eventually got called, and the C section was ordered. I can so clearly see myself holding her hand on the tidy side of the barrier sheet when I first heard those high pitch chirps- then a solid cry. I thought my chest was gonna tear my shirt off I was so proud. He surpasses anything I could have ever hoped for. So for you dads out there, I now understand.
