Default FNG(foolish new guy) 66 Corvette Coupe

New member Jim (James) Bond from Tennessee. Hoping to get a little input on some modifications on my 1966 Corvette coupe.

I'm going to start running this car in local SCCA in the new CAM class with the hope of getting a few of the bugs out and hitting one of the Goodguys autocross and the Powertour's Knoxville stop.

Some of the current details. Stock big block suspensions with old KYB gas adjust shocks and a ADDCO front sway bar. Mild 350 with hooker sidepipes and stock 4 spd. Stock 4 wheel disc brakes with o-ring pistons

Current track tire and wheel setup is 15X10 aluminum Sprint slots with Kumho Victoracers that won't comply with the 200 treadwear limit and bigger flares won't be added till the off season. I'd love to keep the 15" wheels but it looks like there just aren't any good options for tires made anymore.

I'd love some input on some lower cost mods I could do. I'm thinking some 17 or 18 inch wheels (possibly used C4 or C5 as I have a set of Vette brake adaptors) with a set of 200 treadwear tires (Direzzas? Hankook? BFG Rivals?) What's a good low weight wheel option?

Are the old style Koni's a good option or should I be looking for a more modern setup?

Anyone who has had experience setting up a C2 or C3 for racing please chime in!
