Default T56 first gen camaro speed tech crossmember?

I am installing a t56 in my 67 camaro, it has a 350 small block and the lakewood scatter shield/bell-housing. I bought the mcloud adapter plate, speed tech crossmember, the trans is the ls type. I was mocking things up to determine the shifter location yesterday with the bare trans case. All was going well until i found that the crossmember won't go back far enough to reach the trans mount. From what i have read the parts I have should work, what am i missing? Do I need the quick time bell housing? It seems that the quick time bell housing is about 1/2"shorter than my lakewood one, and i wouldn't need the 1/2" adapter plate? that setup would be about 1" shorter and then my crossmember would reach? But with that 1" shorter wouldn't I need a shorter input shaft? Or did I get the wrong crossmember?
I am NOT gonna put the m-21 back in, but am starting to get frustrated…………have any of you had problems with this? I know there are quite a few of you that have made this swap on this forum and am looking for some help!
Thanks in advance!
