Default tig weld the seam of deck filler/quarter?

On my previous paint job and using the car for drag racing, the paint at the bottom right corner of rear glass where the deck filler panel meets up to the quarter cracked about two inches. The car had frame connectors. I am looking to keep this from happening again.

I feel like laying a nice tig in the seam can prevent this. I dont necessarily want to fill the seam up, just enough to give lateral strength.

My question is what is the best way to do this, I have been told a pulse type tig.

Thoughts and suggestions?
