700r4 problems

I have a 700 r4 in my 73 camaro. I cant seem to get the tranny to stay in gear long enough. When I floor it it will rev to about 3800 RPM and then shift to the next gear. When Im passing it wont kick down. I am going to replace the kickdown cable as I fear it is not working. I was told that the braket that holds the cable has to be really strong and as straight as possiblbe.

Does any one know of a company where I can buy both peices?
