Ford Speedmaster79 stack injection system trouble

A buddy of mine has this system on his 302 & has had nothing but trouble trying to get it to run. wondering if anyone else has any experience with this injection system and/or comments on the system. I tried to convince him to stick with an OEM setup, but he wanted the hilborn style look. If this harness & ECM are junk, could he use a different harness & ECM? I mean for the most part EFI is EFI regardless of engine manufacturer or intake type, air comes in, fuel injected, spark, BOOM & away you go.......
